So far, I have ran 20 days in a row. I've been doing a 30 day challenge where I have to run at least a mile every day. Today is day 21, and I'm going to be doing an easy run today, as I ran 8 kms yesterday, as well as volunteering/working with horses all morning. I'm exhausted. But I have found that getting myself going, with just a little 8 minute run ( yes, that's as long as 1 mile takes me on average) encourages me to do more. I can convince myself to do a little run, and when I'm doing it, I get pumped and do a little more. I even ran while I was on the road for work! ( though those runs were hard, as I had long days, and not so healthy suppers, and one day the treadmill was broken)
I've been doing work outs included with this, on and off. Somedays it will be a circuit training exercise, some days it will be yoga, I've even done some interval training and hill training alongside the 1 mile I needed to do.
So, little steps. When I'm done all thirty days, I will start doing running 3 times a week at least ( that's my goal) and do another 30 day challenge, to keep me going. There have been times where I almost didn't do it, and plenty of excuses available for me to keep me off the treadmill, but even when I was sick at the beginning, I still managed that 1 little mile. But, in the mean time, those 1 little miles have resulted in me running about 57 kilometres in 20 days. That's 35 miles, its also more than twice what I did all of December, and the month isn't even over yet. I've also sped up to my fastest my fastest 1km and 5 kms since before I broke my ankle. I'm also sporting abs again.
So, I've learned, little steps do help us achieve our goals. Maybe I will make it to a half or full marathon one of these days after-all.
