Its been a little bit since I last wrote. What's new with me?
Well, I'm planning on trying to do 100k in October, as part of Fortheloveofrunning 's challenge. Figured it's good to have a goal to motivate one's self. I know Shilo is going to be doing it too, so maybe she will update her side of this blog along the way...? I know she needs to update the explanation in the header, cause that marathon goal is a couple years ago... And yet I'm still writing and still planning on trying to do it.
The ability to go to the gym every day at work is nice, I have been going more regularly, but not just focusing on running. Actually I do less running, as the option is the treadmill and I'm not too excited about that. Mainly just upper or lower body work outs.
That course I was supposed to be on didn't work out, so I'm just going to be working the next couple months, so I figured I should try to get my running up to speed a little bit. With it being fall, the mornings are cooler so its not as hard to run, if I get up early. We're in summer weather still this weekend, not that I'm complaining.
Today I went for a nice half hour walk with the dogs, enjoyed the nice weather. I'm thinking of doing some yoga later on, but I just want to chill out and relax today, try to destress. Maybe I'll get on my motorbike and go for a ride, try to loosen up some.
But, how does one accomplish 100 km in a month? That's 25 kms a week. That's not too daunting of a thought. or 5 km, 5 times a week. So what's the plan? Start out slow, I think. Go for a couple 5km runs to start out, see if I can up the distance in the first week, then get into a good pace for the next couple weeks. hopefully it stays nice enough that I can run outside, cause I'm really not enjoying the treadmill thing anymore, and that's all I'll have in a couple months... :P
