So, I think I may have pushed myself too hard and fast to keep up with Shilo... this month's injury? I have a sharp pain in the bottom of my right foot whenever I step down on a hard surface without foot protection. It started out as pain when I was running in my outdoor trail shoes. Then when I was walking on the hardwood floors bare foot. Now it seems its always, unless I'm wearing my super protective hiking boots ( which I can't run in) . So, though I'm scheduled for a 16 km run tonight, I am taking a break.
Its also the end of the hundred km challenge, leaving me at 120 kms of running, and a bunch more in the sports department.
Tomorrow is supposed to be my rest day, but I'm way behind on my coaching kms this week, so I'm going to try to make up the 16 kms tomorrow. Haven't decided if I'll try it outside or down on the treadmill. I figure that'll give me a jump on the new challenge as well.
So why 20 hours? We calculated that they recommend a healthy life style of 30 mins of activity a day. Whether it be walking or what have you. Because we both do active stuff OTHER than running/walking, and other people we know do too, we figured we'd try this. So any activity, like Shilo said, sports, walking, chopping wood, swimming for my open water dive course ( Guess what I'm taking again Shilo!?!?!), running, Yoga.. etc.
30 mins a day for 30 days is 900 minutes which equals 15 hours. Because we wanted to up the ante a bit, we set it at 20. If it looks like it'll be too easy ( we should know in the first week, if we have way over 5 hours) then I suggest maybe upping it to 25 or 30. But we'll see, I guess.
For now, I'm going to do some nice, restorative type yoga, eat supper and watch some horror movies to celebrate All Hallows Eve...
Hey! We beat our first goal, that's awesome! :)
